With immediate effect, attorney Elisabeth Reiner (39) strengthens the area of regulatory law at EY Law. The lawyer specializes in advising national and international financial institutions on regulatory issues as well as on fund law (in particular Alternative Investment Fund Manager Act, AIFMG). Other areas of expertise include anti-money laundering compliance and the Economic Owners Register Act (WiEReG).

Elisabeth Reiner is co-author of the first Austrian legal commentary on the WiEReG (Verlag Manz) and is a regular speaker at conferences and events on regulatory issues. She brings extensive experience in providing cross-border advice on alternative investment funds when they are licensed for retail distribution in Austria.

“We are pleased to have Elisabeth Reiner join our firm to further expand the area of banking regulatory and capital markets law. The increasing financial market regulation at EU level requires a strong professional specialization. With Elisabeth Reiner, we can – together with the tax experts of EY Tax – now also provide full support in the area of funds. In addition, new business models regularly involve complex licensing issues. We are pleased that Elisabeth Reiner is now on board as an additional expert,” says EY Law Partner Mario Gall about the firm’s latest addition.

Elisabeth Reiner studied law at the University of Vienna, completed her doctoral studies at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and holds an LLM (Commercial Law) from the University of Edinburgh, from which she graduated with distinction. Before joining EY Law, Elisabeth Reiner worked for DORDA Rechtsanwälte GmbH (Banking and Capital Markets Law Team) for more than six years, three of which as an attorney.

Prior to her career as an attorney, Elisabeth Reiner was a research assistant at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration and the University of Innsbruck. One of her research projects was funded by the Austrian National Bank and published as a monograph by Verlag Österreich. In addition, Elisabeth Reiner was a member of the Austrian national road and track cycling team for several years, which underlines her team-oriented and competitive approach as a lawyer.

“For me, my move to EY Law represents a challenging opportunity to contribute to the further growth of the firm with my expertise in regulatory and fund law. The international network of EY Law and the interesting client structure as well as the diverse issues in regulatory law, especially in new business models, offer an exciting area of practice. I am looking forward to the new tasks and the professional cooperation in the EY Law network”, says Elisabeth Reiner.
